Mario Gambaro

Maestro Mario Gambaro
was born in Murano (1941) were he presently works and lives.
in his family there has been at least an important Maestro in the last five generations.
When he was only thirteen he started his apprentiship by one of the most famous masters ever existed Alfredo Barbini, great artist and innovator of the local art.

Mario was close to twenty (very rarely an apprentice receives the title of “master blower” at such a young age), when, with his team, strats working as master by Seguso vetri d’Arte, the most popular glass factory in Murano at that time.
He has been working side by side with Archimede Seguso very well known in Europe; Livio Seguso highly appreciated in the U.S. and Pino Signoretto rising master.
Since the beginning of the years seventy by Vincenzo Nason he developes reproductions for a splendid catalogue “Vecchia Murano”.

From 1974, with his brother in law, Bruno Poggi, establishes “Vetreria Artistica Gambaro & Poggi” where he still works as Maestro and entitled “Artistic manager”.
Mario has got a rare characteristic, an unlimited repertoire of different kinds of work.

He can develope heavy sculptures, decorative items, modern drinking glasses and thin reproductions of the local Museum pieces, combining his personal taste with colours and lines.

A very high percentage of Gambaro & Poggi’s production are his own creations, like a real artist taking care of the item from the idea to the achievement of the finished product.
His new creation can be admired continuously in personal exibitions he organizes annualy in all continents.
