Oscar Zanetti

Oscar Zanetti was born in Murano in 1961, where he works and presently lives.
His all family has lived on the island since long ago.

One of the most important members of the past generation was Abbot Vincenzo Zanetti (1824-1883), founder of the Murano Glass Museum. Besides founding the glass museum he developed a number of researches regarding glass pastes extremely important for the years to come and writer of the only guide-book of the island (1869).

Oscar started working in the young age.
Attending the Venice Art Institute in the morning, the afternoon was dedicated to improve knowledge of the different kinds of glass.

As for anyother apprentice the beginning has been very hard.

Oscar’s professional training did last about fourteen years spent in the most prestigious glass factories like Venini, La Murrina and Barovier & Toso (a must for growing masters).

In 1986 his father Licio, another great Maestro pride of Murano, liked Oscar join him in the family business to improve his technic and in the same time to stimulate the young talent.
Seven years later (1993) Oscar’s dreams came true.

In his own furnace he can express deeply his immagination and creativity.
The cooperation of Daniele Luchetta and other artists of his entourage gave the chance to Oscar to carry out original and exquisite creations.
A number of international contemporary artists need the help and the skill of such a craftsman to develope their works of art.

His sensitivity and sensibility are essential and absolutely necessary to transate the feeling of their drawings into such an extraordinary univers of lights and colours rappresented by the glass.
Since 1993 he periodically organizes international exibitions and every year he presents his best creations by “Venezia Aperto Vetro”, the most important show in the pavilion “Young emergent Artists”.
